Yahoo! India GeoCities is closing

Yahoo! India GeoCities is closing on October 26, 2009!

This is the email I received from The Yahoo! India GeoCities team.

"Dear Yahoo! India GeoCities customer,

We're writing to let you know that Yahoo! India GeoCities, our free web site building service and community, is closing on October 26, 2009.

We have enjoyed hosting GeoCities web sites created by Yahoo! users all over the world, and we're proud of the community you've built. However, we have decided to focus on helping our customers get online with our other great hosting service, Yahoo! Small Business.

On October 26, 2009, your GeoCities site will no longer appear on the Web, and you will no longer be able to access your GeoCities account and files.

What You Need to DoIf you're no longer using your web site, you don't need to do a thing, but if you'd like to move your web site, or save the images and other files you've posted online, you need to act now by downloading your files to your own computer.

To quickly download your published files and images, visit your GeoCities web site, right-click on each page, and choose Save Page As... from the menu that appears. Choose a location on your computer to save your files, then click OK or Save to save the HTML and images associated with your page. Learn more about downloading your files.

We recommend moving your site to our Yahoo! Small Business service, which works a lot like GeoCities but includes a personalized domain name and matching email, new site building tools, unlimited disk space and bandwidth, and more. See more on Yahoo! Small Business.

Another Way to Connect Online As a Yahoo! customer, you can now use your Yahoo! profile as a central point to manage your identity, activities, and interests across Yahoo! and make it easy to connect and share with the people who matter to you most.

You can get started anytime by adding your picture and other personal details, then invite friends and family to connect — even start your own blog. You'll be able to follow the online activities of your connections across Yahoo!.

Setting up your profile is easy, and it's free! Visit your profile now.

Don't WaitPlease be aware that after October 26, your GeoCities files will be deleted from our servers, and will not be recoverable. If you'd like to save your files, please download them now. If you need assistance, please visit the help centre.

We want to thank you for being a GeoCities customer, and hope you continue to enjoy our other Yahoo! India services.

Best regards,

The Yahoo! India GeoCities team "

Simple tools for PC cleanup:

Image via Wikipedia Clean up is always a good thing when it comes to keeping your PC clean and also making it perform better while saving some disk space at the same time. Few days back while I was goggling hoping to find a software tool that can remove older java versions installed in my computer, I got lucky - I found a tool named " JavaRa " at this site: http://raproducts.org/ . It removed older versions of java and created a log for me see what it actually removed. That's so cool! I found another cleanup tool in that same site ; it is called " PureRa ". This tool removes certain files that resides in your PC and left there untouched/unused. The removal of these files saves quite a lot of space in the hard disk. After I ran this tool in my Windows Vista PC, it removed a whopping 1.5 GB of files which is what it said in the log file. Yes - it displays a log listing all the safe-to-be-removed files which it deleted safely. It worked
Do you know you can get 411 directory assistance for free!!?!!!?!There is no catch folks!. 1-800-FREE-411 is a free directory assistance service. Just dial the number and use the service. If it is free then how could they afford this service for free!!? Their advertisers pay for the service. You will hear an Ad every time you call them and if you like the ad you can connect directly to their advertisers!! Otherwise you don't have to do anything!!Just listen till the ad completes and after that you will be connected to a live operator and you can get your directory assistance !! How easy and simple is that?!I tried it once and it was good except that I have to wait for a minute or two for the ad to finish.

Internet Explorer 8 has a meaning.

Image by Dekuwa via Flickr I read magazines and news most of them online and occasionally offline in print version. Whenever I find a word that I don't know the meaning of, I go to google and then type "define:patsy" for instance. We have online dictionary tools that are available for free like Dictionary.com and other softwares like Babylon . IE 8 has this cool feature "define with Encarta ". When you use IE 8 to read content online and you don't know the meaning of a particular word, all you have to do is select that word and right click on your mouse and select 'define with Encarta"!! there you go! It instantly display the meaning of the word! This is way better than doing the google define thing or using a online service.
